(LifeSiteNews) – Another juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is speaking out to condemn the holdout responsible for it ending in a mistrial, accusing him of at one point reenacting the strangulation of Clancy’s children with a water bottle and the actual exercise band she used.

Clancy evaded conviction last week for the 2023 murder of her three children when a mistrial was declared after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. That she did it was undisputed, but the defense argued she was not responsible due to “postpartum psychosis,” which allegedly brought her to a point at which she decided to end her children’s lives before attempting to kill herself.

Most of the predominantly female jury was reportedly sympathetic enough to acquit, but one male holdout refused, preserving the possibility of a future trial convicting her. Mirroring the cultural flashpoint the case has become in the court of public opinion, several female jurors have condemned their colleague in interviews, with one giving the unintentionally revealing quote that “he had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children.”

The New York Post reported that ABC’s “Good Morning America” aired an interview on Thursday with Nick Dargie, another of the three male jurors on the case. He painted the holdout unreasonable and disinterested in the facts of the case to the point of scrolling through his phone during conversations.

“There wasn’t a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to prove why he was thinking the way he was,” Dargie claimed. “We spent seven weeks on this trial, almost two months of all our lives dedicated to it,” he said, only to feel “defeated” when it ended in a mistrial.

Dargie’s most dramatic claim was that at one point the holdout allegedly “took the exercise band out of the bag, grabbed an empty water bottle, and tied the band around the water bottle and pulled,” apparently mimicking the murder. Asked if he explained the act, Dargie initially said “no” but quickly hedged that “he might have,” but Dargie was “just so shocked” that he could have missed it.

“We’re not here to play detective – it’s not a game of Clue. This is serious,” he said. “I asked him why are you doing that? That’s a band that was used to strangle a child. That’s disgusting.”

The holdout, who has become the subject of intense scorn from jurors who have spoken out plus “feminist” media figures sympathetic to Clancy, has not yet come forward to give his side of the story. But another female juror spoke to CBS Boston this week to give a more sympathetic perspective, admitting “big personalities” in the room were “unwilling to see things from the other side” and were “trying to kind of sway that person from the very beginning.”

Because of the holdout, the principle of double jeopardy did not attach to the trial and Clancy can be prosecuted again. But the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has not yet confirmed if it plans to attempt a new trial. In the meantime, Clancy is confined to a state mental facility, with her next hearing slated for September 29.
