WASHINGTON, May 8, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – All non-profit organizations look to holidays, national events or breaking news to help spawn innovative ways to ask people for money.  Successful fundraisers are able to create a relationship between the service they provide and a celebration or event evoking emotion.  The stronger this link is, the more donations they receive.

There is nothing wrong with this strategy.  Many invaluable organizations employ and rely upon it to raise the money essential to the success of their missions.

But out of all the holidays in the year that Planned Parenthood has at its disposal to solicit funds, America’s notorious abortion giant has targeted Mother’s Day 2009.  And they are doing so with the help of children’s author Judy Blume, who infamously wrote books containing pornographic details of sexual intercourse, and Cynthia Nixon, co-star of the sleazy sitcom “Sex and the City.”

Planned Parenthood has distributed letters supposedly written by the two “celebrities” asking you to donate in honor of your Mom.  As an incentive, PP says it will send your Mom a Mother’s Day card notifying her of the donation.

“Say thanks this Mother’s Day with a gift that honors her courage by making a donation to Planned Parenthood in her name,” reads the letter from Blume. “There is no organization that I know of that supports motherhood and all that it means more than Planned Parenthood.”  (See Blume’s letter here https://www.ppaction.org/ppvotes/notice-description.tcl?newsletter_id=17513064)

Nixon’s letter was almost identical.

The fundraisers behind Planned Parenthood have zeroed in on Mother’s Day 2009 in an attempt to link the intrinsic dignity and beauty of motherhood with the “service” they provide – that is, the destruction of the unborn and therefore, inevitably, the destruction of motherhood.

Can you imagine sending your Mom a card that essentially says, “I love you so much that I donated to an organization that would have happily profited from my destruction in your womb”?

I could rant and rave about the hypocrisy of such an appeal, but I think it is pretty obvious to LSN readers.

Sadly, however, it’s not obvious to most people, as Planned Parenthood will probably receive a huge influx of donations from these emails.

This is just another great indicator of how deep the abortion lie runs.  PP is able to dupe thousands, if not millions, of people into believing that abortion actually fosters or promotes motherhood, when truthfully, abortion brutally exterminates the one thing essential to motherhood, while leaving the mother with severe and long-term emotional scarring.

Don’t believe me, just ask the ladies from the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, who have had abortions, and know what abortion really means – the death of one human being and the injury of another.

“Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby told us that terminating our children’s lives would solve our problems, but that lie has turned Mother’s Day into a time of anguish and regret for far too many,” said Georgette Forney, a co-founder of the Campaign in a press release.

Janet Morana, another co-founder, said, “Honoring mothers by giving money to Planned Parenthood, though, is like honoring our troops by sending care packages to al-Qaeda.”

One thing you will notice if you read the Planned Parenthood Mother’s Day letters is that neither of them actually tell you how supporting PP relates to supporting motherhood.

That is because PP is trying to make a positive connection between killing babies and motherhood, one that plainly doesn’t exist.  I guess that is why they asked Blume and Nixon for help – but they didn’t quite get it either. Just a bunch of nonsense about mothers who “had the guts to give you the answers to questions you couldn’t quite figure out” or baseless exhortations from Blume saying she is “honoring moms everywhere with” her gift “to Planned Parenthood” and so should you.

Well, she definitely isn’t honoring my mom, or any other mother I know for that matter.

This Mother’s Day I am going to tell my mom I love her because she, with the help of my dad, and more importantly the grace of God, respected and welcomed my right to life.  I am going to thank her for nurturing in me the inherent understanding that life is not a choice but a gift.  I am going to honor my Mom by openly embracing the inalienable dignity of life in my upcoming marriage this summer and through my work here at LifeSiteNews.

Unfortunately, part of my job involves asking people for money, and like I said, successful fundraisers of non-profits look to these holidays to inspire donations.  If you think we at LifeSiteNews truly support motherhood, then please help us out with a donation this weekend.

You can be sure that it will be put to good use. Click here: https://www.lifesitenews.com/donate/index.html
