HOLLYWOOD, California, June 26, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken his support for homosexual activists one step farther in agreeing to be the keynote speaker at a Hollywood homosexual fund-raising event this week, reported WorldNetDaily on Sunday.

Held by the political group the Log Cabin Republicans, the event costs $250 a plate, but an additional $5,000 will get attendees a photo of themselves with the governor.

The California based organization, Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), condemned Gov. Schwarzenegger’s decision to speak at the event.”n an unprecedented act honouring transsexual-bisexual-homosexual ‘pride’ (which is parading through cities nationwide this month), Schwarzenegger has done the unthinkable: He’s agreed to be the top fund-raising speaker for homosexual activists,” said Randy Thomasson, president of the CCF, in a statement Saturday.

“No Republican governor in California history has promoted transsexuality, bisexuality and homosexuality like Arnold Schwarzenegger has.”

Gov. Schwarzenegger has walked a careful line in supporting homosexual activism, in the face of strong pro-family opposition from state groups. He officially endorsed homosexual pride celebrations with a 2006 “pride message” issued in March, offering “warm greetings” to participants in gay pride events, but vetoed a gay “marriage” bill last fall.

The governor said he would not support the bill since it would ignore the expressed wishes of the majority of the population, who voted 61.4 percent in favour of the 2000 Defence of Marriage Act specifying that marriage be only between one man and one woman.

However, Gov. Schwarzenegger has said he would be in favour of a court-led redefinition of the law.

Schwarzenegger has also indicated he will veto a highly controversial bill that would see mandatory inclusion of material promoting homosexuality in school curricula throughout the state.

“The governor believes that school curriculum should include all important historical figures, regardless of orientation,” governor spokesman Adam Mendelsohn said. “However, he does not support the Legislature micromanaging curriculum.”
