Jason Coffman grieving the loss of his son, CodyFacebook

November 9, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A grieving father spontaneously turned to God in prayer while speaking at a news conference about the tragic killing of his 22-year-old son in Wednesday’s mass shooting at a California bar.

After searching in vain through the night, Jason Coffman said that he had just been informed that his son, Cody, was among the dead.

He then began to explain to reporters that Cody was his firstborn son, and bringing his hand to his broken heart, struggling to speak through sobs and deep heaves of emotion, declared, “How much I love him, how much I miss him,” saying, “Oh son, I love you so much.”

Then raising his head heavenward, Cody’s Dad prayed, “O heavenly Father, just please be with him.”

Jason went on to explain that Cody was about to fulfill his dream of serving his country by joining the army.

He added that as his son was heading out the door to go to the bar that night, the last thing he said to Cody was, “Son, I love you.”

Twelve people died in the mass shooting Wednesday night at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, including ten young patrons and a Ventura County sheriff's deputy who was set to retire soon.
