MELBOURNE, July 4 (LSN.ca) – Australia is embroiled in the abortion debate with a hospital having suspended three senior doctors for having committed a late-term abortion for a woman whose baby had dwarfism. Today results of a survey indicated that 78% of doctors would kill children at 13 weeks gestation if it was discovered that they were dwarfs. However, support for aborting babies with dwarfism at 24 weeks dropped from 78 per cent to 14 per cent.

The Age reports that Royal Women’s Hospital is investigating the abortion performed at 32 weeks ( 8 months) gestation earlier this year after a woman learned her child would a dwarf. The doctors are claiming that the abortion was needed since the woman was suicidal.
