MELBOURNE, April 26, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As same-sex “marriages” become more of a reality for Canada and the U.S., Australian officials are planning a blockade—to disallow “marriages” of same-sex couples carried out on foreign soil from being recognized in Australia. The move is meant to make it clear that homosexual “marriage” is unwelcome by Australian officials.  The government plans to explicitly define marriage in law as the union of one man and one woman, until now the normal definition was assumed.  The Cabinet plans to implement the measure without any invitation for official consultation before the measure is passed.  Damien Tudehope, spokesman for the Australian Family Association, which has lobbied vigorously for the measure since February, told the Sydney Morning Herald Monday, “We anticipate the changes will be drafted and before Parliament this year, before the election.”
