July 23, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As a rookie NBA star, J.J. Redick signed a confidentiality agreement promising ex-girlfriend Vanessa Lopez that if she would abort their baby, he would agree to date her for one year or pay her $25,000.

On September 13, 2007, he and the model signed a “Statement and Confidentiality Agreement” sketching their future relationship, and the future of their unborn child.

“Whereas LOPEZ has asserted she is pregnant, that REDICK is the putative father, and that LOPEZ has decided to terminate her pregnancy…once LOPEZ has terminated said pregnancy and has provided medical proof of said termination satisfactory to REDICK,” the two “shall attempt to establish and maintain a social and/or dating relationship between themselves for a period of one year from the date of this agreement,” said the agreement.

“In the event that the foregoing establishes that LOPEZ was either not pregnant or did not terminate the pregnancy, REDICK shall have no further obligations hereunder.”

If Redick decided he did not want to establish a relationship after her abortion, “he shall pay LOPEZ the sum of” $25,000.

She, too, could opt out of the relationship, in writing, with no financial penalty.

If the two tried to date but it did not work out, there would be no penalty for the break-up.

The website MediaTakeOut.com obtained a copy of the legal document, signed when Redick was a 22-year-old rookie. He did not admit paternity.

Redick, now 29, plays shooting guard for the Los Angeles Clippers. He has played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, and for Duke University, where he was the all-time leading scorer.

Lopez, who is a model, has been romantically linked with fellow NBA stars Delonte West, Kenyon Martin, and Shaquille O'Neal, who was married at the time of their tryst.

She accused O'Neal of breaking off their affair after learning she may have been pregnant, and then sued him for alleged harassment. She was represented by pro-abortion feminist lawyer Gloria Allred.

In June, a judge dismissed her lawsuit against Shaq with prejudice, noting she “lied often” and “demonstrated an utter disrespect for the system of justice.”

Celebrity divorce attorney Nancy Chemtob has revealed she has seen unusual prenuptial contracts agreeing that a star's wife would abort in the event she were to become pregnant.
