VANCOUVER, June 4 (LSN) – Edward Hewlett, President of British Columbia Parents and Teachers for Life,  requested prayers from Canada’s pro-life community for two upcoming court battles which threaten religious freedom in Canadian Christian schools.  From June 15-17, the B. C. College of Teachers (BCCT) will be in court, appealing the B.C. Supreme Court’s decision in favour of Trinity Western University (TWU), a private evangelical school facing discrimination at the hands of the BCCT, because of TWU’s biblical code of morality. BCCT wants to refuse to certify teachers trained at TWU as unsuitable to teach in public schools. According to Hewlett, the reason for BCCT’s refusal to recognize TWU’s teacher training programme is TWU’s requirement that students “abstain from homosexual behaviour.”  For more information on this case, go to:  https://www.twu.ca/challenge or call 1-877-801-2494 toll-free   In another case, due to begin on June 29, the Gay and Lesbian Educators of B. C. are taking the Surrey School Board to court for refusing to authorize material promoted by the gay activist group. The provincial NDP government has attacked the school board for its position, and has denied them financial support in defending themselves in court.  (Source: Pro-Life E-News)
