WASHINGTON, May 7, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Save the Children 2003 Mothers’ Index, which has received extensive media play, carries an anti-life bias undermining its credibility. The survey, while commendable in many respects unabashedly supports abortifacients, contraceptives and sterilization. Of the four indices assessing a mother’s health status, one was “percent of women using modern contraception.” The figure would thus negatively affect the country assessments of pro-life countries where such anti-life measures are frowned upon. The survey considered ‘modern methods of contraception’ to include “male and female sterilization, IUD, the pill, injectables, hormonal implants, condoms and female barrier methods.” See the full survey online at: https://www.savethechildren.org/sowm2003/index.shtml
