WASHINGTON (LifeSiteNews) – A left-wing Washington-based non-profit was awarded was awarded $41 million from the Biden administration to aid the organization in its efforts, which include fighting the deportation of illegal immigrants in the U.S.

Fox News reported that it had discovered a series of contracts awarded to the Acacia Center for Justice, which is based in Washington, D.C., and is an organization born from a partnership between the Vera Institute of Justice and Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR).

The center’s websites states: “The Acacia Center for Justice is a new non-profit created through a collaboration between the Vera Institute of Justice (‘Vera’) and the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (‘CAIR’) Coalition.”

In addition, the Acacia Center seeks to “expand on Vera’s work over the past twenty years in providing legal support and representation to immigrants facing deportation[.]”

The Vera Institute of Justice, a New York-based group that supports defunding police, has expressed that it views immigration enforcement agencies as a “threat” to civil liberties.

CAIR runs an adult defense program that provides information, support, and legal representation to illegal immigrants.

The move to spend millions to defend illegal immigration comes as the debate about illegal immigration in the U.S. is at a fever pitch.

In September, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott both sent groups of illegal migrants to destinations out of state.

Abbott sent migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris’ D.C. residence. And DeSantis sent two flights of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, an affluent vacation spot in Massachusetts that is heavily influenced by Democratic politicians.

The war over how to handle the border crisis in the southern U.S. is heating up with midterm elections only a month away.
