TORONTO, Ontario, May 29, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A protest against Ontario’s “anti-bullying” Bill 13 is scheduled to take place in Toronto at Dundas Square Thursday beginning at 12 noon.
Dalton McGuinty’s Bill 13, which will be voted on soon by the provincial legislature, has been criticized by parents, religious leaders, and family values groups across Ontario for its heavy focus on “sexual orientation” and requirement that schools host gay-straight alliance clubs.
“Our sources tell us that the vote could happen any time between today and June 7,” said Jack Fonseca of Campaign Life Coalition. “Apparently the power all lies in McGuinty’s hands to force it whichever day he chooses, and he is not giving the opposition, nor the public, any clue as to when that will be.”
Head of Concerned Catholic Parents of Ontario Kim Galvao said, “This proposed legislation by Dalton McGuinty’s Ontario government will subvert parental rights and freedom of religion. It will cause schools to teach children controversial sex ed theories that violate the religious and moral convictions of many parents about human sexuality.”
“Parents and citizens who believe this we face a choice between liberty or tyranny, need to attend the protest,” said Fonseca.
“We can’t give McGuinty the power to take away fundamental rights from any group. Even libertarians who disagree with the Catholic Church, must defend its fundamental rights, if they wish to keep their own secure against the whims of an all-mighty State,” said Fonseca.
