OTTAWA, Feb 11 (LSN)—MP Réal Ménard (BQ, Hochelaga—Maisonneuve) put forward a bill in the House of Commons yesterday urging “eaqual treatment for persons cohabiting in a relationship similar to a conjugal relationship.” Noting that he was “proud” to introduce the proposed act, he explained that its purpose is “to guarantee common-law homosexual and lesbian couples the same rights as those granted under federal legislation to common-law hetero-  sexual couples.” The motion was deemed adopted and the bill received first reading.
