PHOENIX, Arizona, Sept 9 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Last Sunday, at the request of Thomas J. O’Brien, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, his letter condemning the decision to send a 14-year old,  24-week pregnant girl out of state for an abortion was read in all parishes in the diocese.  The bishop called the situation “totally abhorrent” and a “bizarre and gross occurrence allowed in the State which should be an embarrassment to all decent minded citizens.” The bishop expressed “sympathy for the situation of the young mother, who is really a child herself” noting that the diocese offered to assist her and her baby. The bishop said he was   “appalled” at the court decisions and encouraged all Catholics to “support the pro-life movement.”
