(LifeSiteNews) — On this week’s episode of The Bishop Strickland Show, Bishop Joseph Strickland spoke about God’s unconditional love for, and mercy on, us.

His Excellency followed up on a tweet where he said we “too often ignore the mercy” Christ offers us on the Cross.

“Too often we don’t really act as if God is merciful, and mercy gets deluded to just sort of this sugarcoating of things,” he said. “It goes to the very root of where we’re broken, and brings us back to the Light and Truth that is God. To real love. And that’s what God’s mercy is. [It] is real love that is unconditional, everlasting love beyond our imagining. And I think we all need to really embrace that and see that more clearly.”

Bishop Strickland added later that although “none of us is as holy as we can be or should be,” the call to holiness means learning to better cooperate with God’s grace, turn away from temptation, and turn toward Him.

“I’m a sinner. I make mistakes. I do things wrong. But again, going back to that mercy we were talking about, God gives us the opportunity when we mess up to get it right again and to continue to grow in grace,” Strickland said. “That’s the call to holiness.”
