(LifeSiteNews) — On this week’s episode of The Bishop Strickland Show, Bishop Joseph Strickland lent his support to Cardinal George Pell’s rebuke of two prominent clerics over their “wholesale and explicit rejection of the Catholic Church’s teaching on sexual ethics.”

Earlier this month, the former Archbishop of Sydney publicly called on the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) to reprimand Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich and Bishop Georg Bätzing for their radical beliefs on female “priests,” female deacons, homosexuality, and contraception.

“I applaud [Cdl. Pell] because we’re all shepherds,” said Bishop Strickland. “We’re all ordained and made the same promise to guard the deposit of faith.”

The bishop of Tyler, Texas, stated that the best way to counter the erroneous, dangerous teachings of Cardinal Hollerich and Bishop Bätzing is to keep it simple and “turn to the word of God, to the Catechism, to the magisterial teachings of the Church.”

Through the sexual act, human beings can “participate in God’s creative work in the world,” Bishop Strickland added. Cardinal Pell pointed out that the truths of sexuality never change.

“We want to change everything, either change our person or change the world that we live in and mold it according to our image. We need to wake up and recognize … all creation is in the image of God, we’re in His image and likeness,” Bishop Strickland said. “We should celebrate that. We should rejoice in that mystery and do everything we can to live as those created in the image and likeness of God, and see all of creation as a reflection of God’s truth and beauty and goodness.”
