BRAZIL, Jan 16 (LSN) – As Brazil’s Congress debates a bill that would allow rape victims to have publicly funded abortions in public hospitals, a Brazilian lingerie company put out an ad promoting abortion. The company published a two-page ad the national news-magazine Istoe. The ad depicted a woman in lingerie between two men about to rape her with the caption reading, “Legalize abortion fast. I don’t want to wait.” On Thursday, Brazil’s government asked Brazil’s self-regulating advertising industry to pull the ad. The lingerie company could face a $1.7 million fine from the government Consumer Protection Agency for “abusive advertising.”
