Against all odds, conjoined twins born to woman who refused abortion
September 9, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) â Against all the odds, Amanda Schulten, the Chicago area mother who defied doctorsâ advice to abort her conjoined twins, has given birth.
Faith Rosemarie and Hope Lillian were born by C-section on Tuesday. However, news of their birth did not break until Friday afternoon, the day after LifeSiteNews first reported on the story, when Amanda posted the news on her blog.
âSeptember 6th was a day miracles happened,â she said. âI gave birth to the 2 most beautiful conjoined twins.â

âGod is good and he knows what he is doing,â she continued. âI’m so honored to call them my children.â
The birth of the two girls defied all medical predictions. When Amanda learned that she was pregnant with conjoined twins earlier this year, she was told that the babies did not have very long to live, and that she should have an abortion.
Instead Amanda, who is pro-life and entered the Catholic Church this Easter, chose to carry the children to term.
The new mother now reports that the twins, who share the same heart and liver, and have only two kidneys and two legs, were born âcrying and kicking,â and weighing a total of 8 lbs. 10 oz.
âMommy and Daddy are so proud of them,â she writes on her blog. âI cry tears of joy, that God made them so perfect.â
