PHILADELPHIA, May 15, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Judge Jeffrey Minehart has imposed a third life sentence against Kermit Gosnell for first-degree murder during a ten-minute hearing this morning.

Gosnell will already serve two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders of Baby C, and D – newborns whom he allowed to be born and then butchered with scissors.

Yesterday, Minehart passed sentence on the 72-year-old after jurors unanimously convicted him on three first-degree murder charges. But he withheld sentencing for the murder of “Baby A,” because the child's mother said she wanted to address the court.

The abortionist reportedly stood silently in his gray sportscoat and wrinkled green shirt during the brief hearing.

The child, delivered at 30 weeks, was so large Gosnell joked it “could walk me to the bus stop.”

Minehart sentenced Gosnell to between two-and-a-half years and five years in prison for the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, who died in January 2009 after Gosnell's poorly trained staff administered an overdose of Demerol and other sedatives.

She had fled her native Bhutan and spent years in a refugee in Nepal before legally emigrating to the United States. Her family members had indicated they, too, wanted to make an impact statement this morning. It was not immediately reported whether Mongar's family or the mother of Baby A showed up to the proceeding.

The jurors, most of whom described themselves as “pro-choice,” convicted Gosnell of involuntary manslaughter in Mongar's death, as well as violating hundreds of abortion laws.

Mongar was the second woman to die in Gosnell's “house of horrors.” Semika Shaw, 22, had been killed inside his facility in 2002.

To recreate the environment in which they died, and so many others suffered, Assistant District Attorney Ed Cameron brought blood-stained furniture and equipment from Gosnell's Women's Medical Society in West Philadelphia.

Cameron arrived at the courthouse today wearing rubber gloves to remove the items.

During his closing argument, an emotional Cameron turned to Gosnell and asked, “Are you human?”

Defense attorney Jack McMahon said although his client turned down a better deal earlier, he does not regret going to trial. “He's accepting what will happen,” McMahon said.

The attorney told the press that the late-term abortionist waived his right to appeal and accepted life in prison in order to spare his family the ordeal of appearing in court. However, none of his six children appeared in court during the five-week trial or the two-week jury deliberation.

McMahon called the jurors “really nice people.” Three jurors are reportedly scheduled to speak at a press conference this afternoon. District Attorney Seth Williams is also scheduled to speak.
