WASHINGTON, D.C., June 17, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Josh Duggar has starred on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting for 11 years, but soon he'll have a new role: at the helm of a pro-life, pro-family legislative action group in the nation's capital.

Josh Duggar, the oldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, will take over as executive director of FRC Action starting next week.

That group is the 501(c)4 affiliate of the Family Research Council.

“I'm very excited about joining FRC Action and working to promote the values that have always been close to my heart and my family,” Duggar said. “In this capacity, I will be engaging the grassroots and taking the message of faith, family and freedom all across America.”

In 2006 Josh founded a part-time consulting firm called Strategic Political Services, and he served as a campaign surrogate for Rick Santorum during the 2012 Republican presidential primaries.

Duggar made the announcement Monday afternoon on Tony Perkins' Washington Watch radio program on AFR Talk, the radio network of the American Family Association.

“We look forward to working with you to take the message of faith, family, and freedom all across America,” said FRC President Tony Perkins.

The Duggars became the nation's most recognized large, Christian family after network executives saw a picture of Jim Bob's large family during his U.S. Senate loss in the 2002 election. He had previously served in the Arkansas legislature.

That led to a program that quickly became the top-rated reality TV show, now lasting 11 years.

The family's impressive size came after Michelle Duggar vowed not to use contraception following an emotional miscarriage she feared had been caused by birth control.

Josh married Anna Keller in October 2008. They now have three children of their own, Mackynzie Renee, Michael James, and three-week-old Marcus.
