INDIANA, November 8, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — With Mike Pence's governor's seat left open, pundits thought Democrats would fill the vacancy. But in what appears to be a strong pro-life showing on election night, pro-life Republican Eric Holcomb has won the race to become Indiana’s next governor, beating out Democrat John Gregg.

Pro-life organization Susan B Anthony list called the win a “roll” in the Hoosier state.

“Pro-Lifers Cleaning up in Indiana. We have won: Indiana Governor, Indiana Senate and Congressional Districts #02, #05, #09,” they wrote in an election live blog update.

Holcomb had been endorsed by the Indiana Right to Life Political Action Committee (PAC).

“The Right to Life community has full confidence that the Holcomb and Crouch team will continue the many pro-life policies enacted by the Daniels and Pence administrations. We believe they will work closely with the pro-life leadership of the Indiana House and Senate,” stated Mike Fichter, Chairman of the Indiana Right to Life PAC, in October.

“The abortion rate has decreased for seven consecutive years and several abortion facilities have closed their doors in recent years. We look forward to working with our future governor, Eric Holcomb, to ensure all Hoosier children are given birthdays,” he said.
