LONDON, June 24 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The British government today banned the practice of human cloning for scientific research. The news came as a shock to scientists involved in the lucrative practice who believed that the government would allow it to continue for research purposes,  although retaining the ban on cloning to reproduce babies.

While the ban is only temporary while the issue of cloning for research is still being examined, Britain at the moment joins France, which has also outlawed human cloning.  Other developed nations such as Canada and the US have so far refused to criminalize cloning.
