OTTAWA, Feb 17 (Lifesitenews.com) Families in Canada were disturbed to learn yesterday that the federal budget will continue to discriminate against families despite the public outcry against the unfairness. The child-care deduction, that only benefits families who use government-sanctioned daycare facilities, actively discourages parents from staying home to raise their own children. The federal budget has still not addressed the tax discrimination that allows unmarried working couples to enjoy a lower tax rate than a married couple with one wage earner with equivalent total family income.
Pro-family leaders contend that the Liberal government has a deliberate policy to penalize traditional family life. “Nothing else makes sense of their constant refusal to correct the tax discrimination against married couples with children, especially if only one is working,” said Steve Jalsevac, a Toronto director of Campaign Life Coalition.
