WASHINGTON, March 13, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Texas Supreme Court Judge Priscilla Owen, nominated by President Bush to the 5th U.S. Court of Appeals in New Orleans last year, will make another appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee now that a GOP majority may be able to get her nomination onto the floor of the Senate. Republicans now control the committee with a 10-9 majority.  The Senate’s GOP majority will also try Thursday to get another U.S. Appeals Court nominee, Hispanic lawyer Miguel Estrada, past a Democratic filibuster. Both appointments have been hamstrung by Democrats because the two judges are suspected of being staunchly pro-life. However, a pro-life splinter group is opposing Estrada’s nomination because he has been discreet about airing his views on abortion in public.  For local coverage:  https://foxnews.com/story/0,2933,80973,00.html
