WASHINGTON, September 17, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – President George W. Bush is standing by his appeals court nominee, Texas Supreme Court justice Priscilla Owen, and criticizing the “outrageous” antics of Senate Democrats who have filibustered her nomination for two years.  “She’s a great lady. She ought to be confirmed,” Bush said of Owen. “You bet I’m behind her, 100 percent. … I think it is outrageous that Miguel Estrada never got an up or down vote on the Senate floor,” Bush added. “He would have been confirmed. … I don’t ascribe [it to] anything other than pure politics,” Bush said.  Bush vowed to “elevate” the issue as the 2004 presidential campaign unfolds.  For Texas media coverage:  https://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/nation/6792001.htm   For previous LifeSite coverage:  BUSH APPOINTEE OWEN GETS ANOTHER CHANCE https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2003/mar/03031307.html
