WASHINGTON, May 16, 2002 (LSN.ca) –  The House Appropriations Committee reversed a decision last week that would have forced President George Bush to hand over $34 million to UNFPA despite concerns over the international agency’s involvement in forced abortion and involuntary sterilization in China. In a 32-30 vote, the Appropriations panel approved a provision by Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kansas), giving President Bush until July 31 to decide whether to spend any of the money.  see https://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/136/nation/House_panel_OK_s_giving_Bush_latitude_on_family_planning_funds+.shtml
