WASHINGTON, April 13, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Along with Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sam Alito, U.S. President George W. Bush was in attendance at the fourth annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast this morning.
In remarks to the crowd of thousands, the President spoke about “renewing the promise of America.” It “begins,” he said “with upholding the dignity of human life.”
The President was at ease at the breakfast, joking with attendees about having the event on a Friday after Easter, outside of Lent so bacon could be eaten without hurting consciences.
To laughs and applause after expressing his appreciation for the organizers and for the honored guests and attendees, he said, “Thanks for letting me come by to say hello.”
“We must continue to work for a culture of life,” said the President. Awaiting a day where we “recognize in each human life the image of our creator.”
The LifeSiteNews.com team is reporting live from the prayer breakfast, and readers can expect photos as time permits.
