SACRAMENTO, California, November 8, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – The California official behind the raid to seize David Daleiden’s undercover Planned Parenthood footage, who also colluded with the abortion giant to quash pro-life speech, has won election to the U.S. Senate.
Attorney General Kamala Harris beat California Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, another Democrat, to take over the retiring Barbara Boxer’s seat. The two women faced off in the June primary in California’s system, where the top two finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election.
It was the first open seat Senate election in California in 24 years, the entirety of Boxer’s tenure.
Both women support abortion, and have 100 percent ratings from NARAL.
Sanchez has continually voted against legislation removing “family planning” funding or banning some abortion procedures.
Harris, who led Sanchez in polling by double digits, had the endorsement of both President Barack Obama and California Governor Jerry Brown.
It was her office that directed the raid of Center for Medical Progress investigator David Daleiden’s California home in April, confiscating his footage of Planned Parenthood’s organ harvesting activity.
Harris was also found to have colluded with the abortion giant to craft a bill that would send pro-life journalists to jail for secretly recording “confidential communication with a health care provider,” which would include abortionists, and sharing the recording in any way.
She received thousands of dollars from Planned Parenthood, as well as having hosted a petition on the Secretary of State website calling for Californians to join her in “defending Planned Parenthood.”
Pro-life groups called for Harris to resign over the Daleiden raid and for her targeting of pro-lifers.
“We are so proud that Kamala Harris will be California’s newest U.S. Senator,” NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue said in a statement of Harris’s win. “As California’s Attorney General, she dedicated herself to empowering women and families and clearly understands that this means fighting to protect and expand reproductive freedom.”
