SACRAMENTO, California, June 28, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — California uses tax dollars to pay for experimentation with aborted baby parts that financially benefits the abortion industry and a state legislator is trying to put a stop to it.

For 12 years, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine has been spending billions of tax dollars on fruitless embryonic stem cell experimentation. Created in 2004, CIRM was approved by voters based on promises that fetal and embryonic stem cells were the key to curing Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, and every ailments. These promises proved false.

The truth is that destructive embryonic stem cell experimentation has resulted in no cures for anything. Non-destructive adult stem cell research, however, has already advanced science to help numerous afflictions.

State Senator John Moorlach of Orange County is leading the fight to save wasted taxpayer money and defund CIRM. But Planned Parenthood and other abortion businesses have ties to the stem cell business and therefore oppose defunding CIRM.

Congressional investigations into Planned Parenthood’s illegal trafficking in aborted baby parts discovered, among other crimes, that abortionists and their co-workers counsel mothers to abort their babies because of the “cures” their babies’ cells can help create.

And not only does CIRM and other government-funded “research” institutions lend justification for abortuary commerce, but Planned Parenthood directly profits from the use of aborted babies as a source of stem cells. Planned Parenthood Action Packs across the state sent numerous letters opposing defunding CIRM in order to keep their piece of the multimillion dollar pie.

“California taxpayers are being immorally extorted three times over,” California Family Council President Jonathan Keller told LifeSiteNews. The California Family Council promotes God’s design for life, family, and liberty through California’s church, community, capital, and culture.

First of all, Keller notes that “the Golden State forces its citizens to pay for abortion coverage through every individual and employer provided insurance plan.” California also “remains one of a handful of states to directly pay for elective surgical abortion through MediCal, the state’s version of the federal Medicaid program.”

“But even worse is how California incentivizes medical research on the body parts of aborted children,” Keller charged. “As if directly funding Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers wasn’t bad enough, Californians also offer a perverse incentive to ‘maximize revenue’ on each fetus destroyed.”

The California Political Review reported that CIRM does not reveal how many millions it spends on destructive stem cell experimentation, nor is it accountable for how much it pays to buy aborted babies for their human stem cells.

“It is unclear exactly how much money CIRM has spent over the years funding research using pre-born baby organs,” the watchdog stated, noting that CIRM reported spending at least $18.4 million on stem cell experimentation designated as “other” in 2016. Kevin McCormack, CIRM senior director of public communications, acknowledged that the category “other” is, or at least includes, pre-born baby tissue experimentation.

“It is clear that California taxpayers, through CIRM, are funding projects that rely on aborted fetal tissue for experiments, including experiments injecting human fetal cells into patients,” Dr. David A. Prentice, research director for the Charlotte Lozier Institute and adjunct professor of molecular genetics at the John Paul II Institute, revealed. “Not only do the patients need to be informed of the source of their injections, but state taxpayers need to be informed of the use of their money.”

Planned Parenthood’s illegal trafficking in aborted humans was exposed by undercover videos made by the Center for Medical Progress two years ago. The videos showed Planned Parenthood officials eager to make huge, illegal profits off the sale of baby parts, talking about the illegal modifying of abortion procedures to obtain “intact” babies for sale, and the delay of procedures to obtain “fresh” specimens to pay for luxury cars for Planned Parenthood staff.

The shocking videos caught Planned Parenthood officials making statements such as abortionist Lisa Harris telling her approving colleagues that “killing” is “the most important thing I could do with my life,” and abortion business owner Renee Chelian saying that burning aborted babies’ bodies to generate electricity is “a great idea.”

Other revelations from the undercover CMP videos include:

  • Abortionist Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commenting,“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because … I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

  • Planned Parenthood’s Savita Ginde stating, “We don’t want to do just a flat fee (per baby) of like, $200. A per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.”

  • Melissa Farrell of Planned Parenthood boasting of obtaining “intact fetal cadavers” and how her “research” department “contributes so much to the bottom line.”

  • Holly O’Donnell admitting that “donating” mothers do not give consent: “These mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”

  • O’Donnell adding that her supervisor delivered a late-term baby for organ sales “and she just taps the heart, and it starts beating.”

  • Planned Parenthood’s Amna Dermish describing illegal partial-birth abortions to procure living, late-term babies that she hopes will yield intact fetal heads for brain harvesting.

Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion politicians ignored the CMP videos, denied the revealed facts, accused the CMP of deception, and attacked the character of lead investigator David Daleiden.

Since Donald Trump was elected president, Democrats and Planned Parenthood have been working feverishly to garner state tax funding for the nation’s largest and most lucrative abortion conglomerate in case Congress takes away federal assistance to facilities that commit abortions.

The California state senate has introduced legislation to ensure Planned Parenthood gets MediCal tax money even if federal funds are withheld and also a Pro-Choice license plate bill to raise funds. Last week, State Treasurer John Chiang announced that he is giving Planned Parenthood and other abortuaries $20 million in tax funds, calling the gift an “emergency grant.”
