MOSCOW, May 19, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) –“The main concern of all religions is to conduct a campaign against the act of abortion,” said a Jewish Rabbi at a recent ecumenical roundtable meeting in Moscow.

Rabbi Zeyev Wagner, Head of the Educational Department for the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, participating in the roundtable meeting, “The Activity of Religious and Public Organizations on Reviving Spiritual and Moral Traditions of the Russian Family,” added that religious leaders should work to promote large families as an ideal goal for youth. “The rebirth of a large family and the rebirth of spirituality must occur simultaneously,” he emphasized, according to an fjc.ru report.

Wagner expressed his disappointment that religious organizations were unwilling to champion large families, adding that he hoped the conference would help to bind the various Russian faiths together in this one goal.
