Toronto, May 26, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – For the past several months, Canada’s National Pro-Life Political Organization, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC), has been quietly evaluating the views of nominated federal election candidates on life issues. The organization will shortly be sending the evaluation results to its mailing list to allow its members and their friends and families to cast an informed vote on election day.

LifeSiteNew.com’s election coverage will include complete reporting of CLC’s results and election communications, as well as election-related articles in The Interim Newspaper, Canada’s National, pro-life, pro-family newspaper. Updates to the CLC database will be reported on LifeSiteNews up to election day, Monday, June 28.  CLC has been sending an election questionnaire to candidates and has also compiled information on the voting and other records of incumbent Members of Parliament. As well, other information about many candidates has been obtained by the non-profit organization’s country-wide network of volunteers.  The CLC election questionnaire asks candidates nine questions about their stands on:  1. when life begins;  2. whether there are circumstances under which abortion should be allowed;  3. over the counter dispensing of abortion-inducing pills and introduction of the abortion pill RU-486;  4. the use of human embryos for experimentation;  5. abortion defunding;  6. euthanasia;  7. assisted suicide;  8. voting personal conscience regardless of party policy;  9. introducing or supporting pro-life proposals;  A questionnaire from an affiliated organization, Life Ethics Educational Association, has also been distributed and asks the question:  “Will you vote for “same-sex” marriage or “same-sex” unions if the issue comes before the House.  See the Complete CLC questionnaire ( Acrobat format) at https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/elections/federal2004/CLCquestionnaire2004.pdf

and the LEEA questionnaire at https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/elections/federal2004/LEEAquestionnaire2004.pdf   Campaign Life Coalition is still distributing questionnaires to recently nominated candidates. It is asking grassroots supporters to help encourage candidates to reply and to report any information from all-candidate meetings, radio or television interviews of the candidates or conversations at the door, &c., that would provide more information about the candidates’ views on life and family issues.  CLC may be contacted at 1-800-730-5358, Fax 416-204-1027 or email [email protected] LEEA may be contacted by calling 416-204-1242
