HAMILTON, ON (LifeSiteNews) –  A Canadian pro-life, pro-family organization is asking all Canadians to demand that Justin Trudeau’s government not remove charitable status from pregnancy centres.

“Please use our Action Alert tool to urge your Member of Parliament to defend the important work of Crisis Pregnancy Centres and Pro-Life Educational Organizations across this country,” says Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) in its Voter Voice campaign.

Earlier this year The Liberal Party’s 2021 election platform specifically targeted pro-life groups, including organizations that offer direct help to women in crisis pregnancies.

A portion of its 86-page platform states, “A re-elected Liberal government will: No longer provide charity status to anti-abortion organizations (for example, Crisis Pregnancy Centres) that provide dishonest counseling to women about their rights and about the options available to them at all stages of the pregnancy.”

The Liberal Party platform claims that “anti-choice organizations are actively working to spread misinformation about abortion, putting the health and safety of young people and vulnerable women at risk.”

In a recent email, CLC’s Campaigns Manager David Cooke told CLC’s followers that “the Trudeau government has vowed to work to destroy the pro-life movement across Canada – especially its life-saving Crisis Pregnancy Centres.”

CLC’s Voter Voice Campaign says that if the Trudeau Liberals enforce its 2021-election platform threat, “scores of Crisis Pregnancy Centres and hundreds of Pro-Life Educational Organizations across Canada will be at risk of closure.”

“Without charitable status, they will be literally taxed out of existence. That will deal an enormous blow to the thousands of women these entities support both before and after childbirth.”

The CLC Voter Voice Campaign is simple to fill out and includes a pre-written message one can use.

“It seems that the Trudeau government is determined to impose pro-abortion belief all across our country’s charitable sector,” reads a portion of the pre-written message.

“This would be an absolute tragedy and a crime against charity. Justin Trudeau is not Canada’s Dictator. He must not be allowed to force his beliefs onto this nation’s charities. Please let me know that you will never allow this to happen! Thank you.”

Pregnancy Care Canada says there are over 30,000 people who asked for its help last year from their 80 affiliated Pregnancy Care Centres.

Also, there were over 7,000 clients who got much-needed baby supplies such as diapers, clothing, and formula last year from Pregnancy Care Centres, with around 600 women getting post-abortion support.

CLC says that this supported “[t]housands of precious children” who were “given the opportunity to see the light of day.”

“Crisis Pregnancy Centres and Pro-Life Educational Organizations make an invaluable contribution to Canadian society, providing resources, support, supplies, information, and options to women facing an unexpected or challenging pregnancy. The women served by these organizations seek out their assistance freely, and they are never forced to choose life for their babies,” says CLC.

“Without these organizations, women in crisis would have fewer options and fewer supports for them in their pregnancy experience. In fact, most would feel they have only one choice: abortion. And one choice means no choice at all!”

A CLC petition called “Save Canada’s crisis pregnancy centres” has 9,638 signatures at the time of writing, just a few hundred short of its 10,000 goal.

CLC is asking all pro-life Canadians to sign and share the petition with friends and family.
