OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — The Canadian Senate admitted that unborn babies deserve protection while presenting legislation to educate citizens on fetal alcohol syndrome.
On September 23, the Senate of Canada introduced Bill S-234 to establish a framework to combat fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, inadvertently admitting that unborn babies deserve protection.
“The national framework must include measures to address the training, education and guidance needs of health care and other professionals regarding the prevention and diagnosis of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and support measures for those who are impacted by it,” the legislation read.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a group of lifelong conditions caused by exposure to alcohol during pregnancy. It affects brain and body development, leading to a range of physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges. Symptoms can include developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, memory issues, impulsivity, and physical abnormalities like facial deformities or growth deficits.
As a result, pregnant women are instructed not to drink alcohol during pregnancy for the safety of the baby.
Other provisions suggested by the legislation include a “strategy to increase awareness of the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy and the consequences of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.”
Ironically, the legislation proves what pro-lifers have been stated for decades: Life in the womb is precious and valuable. However, abortion advocates seem believe that the value of an unborn child depends on whether the baby is desired by the parents.
At the same time as Canada introduces legislation to protect the unborn from FASD, abortion is legal until the ninth month of pregnancy. This means that while a mother is encouraged not to drink during her pregnancy for the sake of her unborn child, she can legally murder that child.
In an interview with LifeSiteNews, Campaign Life Coalition’s Jack Fonseca celebrated the legislation for protecting the unborn, saying that “it’s a commendable thing to try to protect babies in the womb from serious harms like fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. We applaud the Senate for addressing this issue.”
“However, this bill reveals that the Canadian government is totally schizophrenic. Just two days ago, this same Liberal government announced $13 million in funding for pro-abortion organizations to help them INCREASE lethal assaults on babies in the womb,” he continued. “And now, the Senate produces a bill to protect the very same babies from fetal alcohol syndrome!”
“This is tantamount to stating the unborn deserve protection, while at the same time, targeting them for murder, and paying for that murder throughout all nine months of pregnancy,” Fonseca declared.
