Women should be told of the immediate and long-term risks of abortion, say the guidelines, including uterine perforation, infection, hemorrhage, and impact on fertility.
"By flipping back and forth a different way, you can end up with a reasonably coherent version, but the lines that have irritated a few people disappear," said MP Carolyn Bennet, who spearheaded the effort.
"It's a Conservative Senate, but it was a Conservative House too. We never thought it would pass the House," said Campaign Life Coalition's Mary Ellen Douglas.
Bill C-389, which seeks to add "gender identity" and "gender expression" to the Canada Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code's hate crimes section, will now move to the Senate for consideration.
