June 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Campaign Life Coalition (CLC), Canada’s national pro-life political organization, in its just released June newsletter, lays out strong arguments urging its supporters to cast their June 28 votes, above all, based on the candidates views on the life issues.  CLC states “If a candidate does not share your pro-life views, that candidate does not deserve your vote. We must act on our pro-life convictions and demand that our elected representatives protect life. If we do not, then we must share the blame for the victims of abortion (mother, child, extended family, our nation).”  The organization tells its members that “It is your responsibility to know where your candidates stand on life issues” and that it is sending them its Voter’s Guide printed in The Interim newspaper, to help with that task. The printed Voter’s Guide lists all candidates for all ridings outside Quebec and the responses of many candidates to the CLC questionnaire.  A more detailed CLC Voter’s Guide, with candidate information which will be regularly updated until election day, will be published on LifeSite (https://www.lifesitenews.com) starting this weekend. CLC also advises supporters can call the CLC offices for information at 1-800-730-5358.  The newsletter stresses that the candidates’ views on the life issues should be given the very highest priority in making voting decisions. CLC says “No issue could possibly be as important as abortion. Without the basic right to life all else is meaningless. There is no social justice issue that comes even close to the importance of this one. Don’t accept anyone telling you otherwise… We desperately need pro-life MPs, regardless of party, to help enact pro-life legislation.”  The June newsletter briefly addresses four typical responses of candidates to the abortion issue:  1.  abortion is a provincial matter 2.  it is a federal matter 3.  the mother’s health is in danger 4.  the exception of rape and incest   Regarding the same-sex unions issue CLC states “as serious as it is, the same-sex unions issue cannot be compared to the devastation of the culture of death spawned by abortion.” It urges supporters to make their voting decisions “first on the direct life issues, then on the candidates’ views on same-sex unions and then on other issues.”  See the complete June CLC National News at https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/national_news/2004/news_0604.html
