VANCOUVER, Jan 10 (LifeSiteNews.com) – At his annual Mass marking the feast of the Holy Innocents, the children slaughtered by Herod in an attempt to kill the Messiah, Vancouver’s Archbishop Adam Exner compared Herod’s slaughter to abortion. The official diocesan newspaper, the BC Catholic, reported that the archbishop cited the more than 100,000 abortions in Canada annually, the millions internationally, and current lobbying for legalized euthanasia and assisted suicide, and said the world would not be rid of the “scourge of disrespect for human life” without a supernatural solution.  While he said that pro-life education, political action, and witnessing are all “good and necessary,” he maintained that “a new evangelization of our world” would be required to win the battle for life. The archbishop closed with the prayer Kansas minister Joe Wright used to open the Kansas Senate in 1996. The prayer was courageously faithful to Christianity but its “political incorrectness” caused an uproar.

For the whole prayer and writeup see the BC Catholic.
