TORONTO, December 15, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – To highlight the contribution of marriage to the “common good” of all, and to uphold and affirm biblical marriage in community, the Ontario Conference of Catholic Bishops, in partnership with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Crossroads Christian Communications; Focus on the Family, Canada; Listen Up TV.com; MarriageCanada.ca and The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada has initiated “Marriage on the Rock.”  Marriage on the Rock will be a week, or special Sunday, when parishes across Ontario are being encouraged to focus on marriage – as God designed it.  Since marriage is more than a romance relationship, this event recognizes the need for marriage support from the broader Christian community.  Congregations are being encouraged to set aside a common week for the Marriage on the Rock event – if possible, Sunday, February 8 to Sunday, February 15, 2004 (the week leading up to St. Valentine’s Day).  For those congregations who wish to set aside a Sunday only, February 15, 2004 is the recommended date.  Organizers explain, “By choosing a common time frame, we will be worshipping, sharing, learning and praying together, upholding marriage as God designed it.”  In an effort to simplify the planning of this event for pastors and lay leaders, a special interactive CD resource kit is being mailed to dioceses and lay groups.
