OTTAWA, August 25, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) — Instead of condemning the documented and illegal harvesting and selling of body parts from babies aborted at Planned Parenthood centers in the U.S., a Canadian-based Planned Parenthood is using the scandal to raise money for its operations.

“Planned Parenthood Ottawa is suffering,” the organization’s president Lauren Dobson-Hughes posted on its Facebook page on the weekend. “You’ve heard of the recent attacks on women’s healthcare in the States, but we’re feeling the impact too.”

Pro-life Ottawa lobbyist Johanne Brownrigg criticized the organization for running a “brazen fundraising campaign targeting the low information citizen” in the face of mounting evidence showing how the parts of aborted babies are being sold in the U.S. for profit.

While Planned Parenthood Ottawa does not provide clinical services such as abortion, it nevertheless refers clients to places that kill preborn babies. The organization’s budget last year was just shy of $250,000, with $92,000 coming directly from City of Ottawa taxpayers, a 10 percent reduction from the previous year.

In July, an undercover video released by the Center for Medical Progress revealed Planned Parenthood to be caught up in the illegal selling of aborted baby body parts. Subsequent videos released almost every week since then detail the grisly process of sorting out livers, brains, hearts, and eyes and shipping them to buyers.

Mainstream media, instead of dealing with the horror of the allegations, has largely buried its head in the sand. Earlier today a Postmedia News piece written by Elizabeth Payne appeared in various mainstream news outlets across the country in which Planned Parenthood Ottawa was portrayed sympathetically.

“The backlash against reproductive rights across North America is hitting Planned Parenthood Ottawa,” wrote Payne in the opening of her piece. While Payne said that Planned Parenthood in the U.S. is “under attack,” at no point did she say anything about the baby body parts scandal as the source of the backlash. Payne even repeated the totally debunked claim that abortion makes up only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s revenue.

Dobson-Hughes, who made headlines earlier this year after stating that young girls do “nothing wrong” in sharing sexual pictures of themselves with others, said her organization is “under attack by people who oppose healthcare for women,” adding that they are “targeting our funders.”

While no official pro-life group has specifically targeted Planned Parenthood Ottawa, an Ottawa area pro-life blogger published a piece earlier this month highlighting local organizations that gave donations in 2012.

“I might just send their management a note letting them know just what I think of PP and their kind and why I might not want to frequent any establishment that supports them,” the blogpost stated.

Planned Parenthood appears to have been intimidated by the small pro-life blog.

“Enough is Enough. It’s time to step up, and say ‘We Support Planned Parenthood’. Please donate today to show your support,” Dobson-Hughes wrote on Facebook.

Planned Parenthood Ottawa will use money raised to provide more sex-ed for teens, dole out more contraception, and let women know where they can find so-called ‘unbiased’ abortion information and services.

The blog drew attention to Planned Parenthood Ottawa’s “inclusive” and “pro-choice” brand of sex-ed, calling it “pretty awful.”
