OTTAWA, Oct 17 (LSN.ca) – The Hill Times, an independent and respected publication that covers Parliament Hill events, reports that Jean Chretien told his Liberal MP’s at a late September Caucus meeting that the Party will campaign on the issue of “state versus church.” The Times reports that Chretien said that elections “are about whether we will have a referendum on abortion or capital punishment. Or should the church set the school curriculum.”

A Liberal who spoke to LifeSite refused to discuss anything about the caucus meeting. However, when asked whether the Party election focus would be on abortion he suggested such a strategy would be politically unwise and therefore unlikely to be pursued.
