Last Saturday about 125 people meet with Halifax MP Geoff Regan, the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, at the Rockingham Community Center. There was an (almost) unanimous show of support for the traditional definition of marriage. In that one hour, many people, including several local pastors, urged Mr. Regan to vote according to the wishes of the majority of his constituents. He steadfastly said he would not – even if thousands had turned out against SSM. He said he will vote as the Prime Minister’s Office requires him to vote.
