(LifeSiteNews) — Thousands of Canadians from coast to coast are expected to join hand in hand this coming Saturday in a Freedom Chain calling for “Canadian Unity” and to “leave the division behind.”
“We are rising up spiritually, showing that we are unified in every province,” said the Freedom Chain organizers in speaking with LifeSiteNews. “Love is the way, God is it … this is about unity, love, and freedom.”
The Freedom Chain organizers told LifeSiteNews that Canadians are “tired of feeling the separation in our families, friends, and our communities circles.”
“No matter our stance on the pandemic, I think it’s clear that the majority wants to heal wounds and come back together and leave the division behind.”
The Canada-wide Freedom Chain is hoped to stretch the entire length of Canada’s Trans-Canada Highway, which is 7,476 kilometers (4,645 miles) long. People will be gathering on the side of the road to hold hands for “freedom.”
The Freedom Chain will be held in many Canadian cities from coast to coast. The westernmost point is Victoria, British Columbia. All the way East is St. John’s, Newfoundland. The chain is set to begin at 10 a.m. PST, in all locations.
The Freedom Chain’s official Telegram channel lists all local chains with full details of times and locations.
The group’s official Facebook page, which was launched in February and also has times and locations, has over 20,000 followers as of press time, and notes the Freedom Chain was “[o]rganized and lead by God.”
Group organizers have stated that safety is their first priority, and asked those who participate to wear bright clothing, to use four-way flashers on vehicles, to stay on one side of the highway, and to keep kids in strollers.
The Freedom Chain organizers told LifeSiteNews that Saturday’s event is all about “bringing the county together” and is “we the people for the people.”
They also said that the event is separate and independent from any other freedom movement in Canada, as they wanted the event to stand on its own.
“It got traction, the whole goal is to make it a Canadian nation-wide movement,” said event organizers.
Each local Freedom Chain will begin by the singing of the Canadian national anthem, “O Canada.”
“When we sing Oh Canada, we are going to be singing this across Canada,” said the organizers.
They hope there will be more Freedom Chains later in the year, and that this Saturday’s event is only the start for the movement.
“The majority wants to come together to heal wounds,” said organizers.
