LA CROSSE, Wisconsin, July 11, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The 10th anniversary of the U.S. Marian shrine founded by Cardinal Raymond Burke is set for later this month. It will feature a weeklong celebration including a conference with the cardinal and other noted Church prelates, along with sacred liturgy in honor of the Blessed Mother as Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On June 17, 2001, as bishop of his home Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, then-Bishop Burke broke ground in La Crosse on the Marian shrine in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas and of the unborn.

By July 31, 2008, the magnificent Shrine Church, Memorial to the Unborn, Mother of Good Counsel Votive Candle Chapel, and Pilgrim Welcome Center had all been completed and dedicated.

In just a few weeks His Eminence Cardinal Burke will return to the Shrine to host the weeklong celebration for the 10th Anniversary of its dedication.

The celebration will kick off on July 27-28, with the Queen of the Americas Guild Conference, “Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Civilization of Love.”

Speakers include Cardinal Burke; His Eminence Norberto Cardinal Rivera Carrera, the former archbishop of Mexico City; His Excellency Bishop Arturo Cepeda, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit; and Monsignor Eduardo Chavez, one of the most renowned experts on the Guadalupe apparitions and postulator for the cause for the canonization of St. Juan Diego.

Conference registration is open to the public and can be found at www.queenoftheamericasguild.org.

On Sunday, July 29, Monsignor Chavez will repeat his talk in Spanish at 9:30 a.m. Following the talk at 11:00 a.m., Cardinal Rivera Carrera will offer a Pontifical Mass in Spanish with Cardinal Burke concelebrating. Registration is not required for the Mass on Sunday.

On Monday, July 30, at 5 p.m., Cardinal Burke will welcome pilgrims for Solemn Vespers in the Shrine Church.

On Tuesday, July 31, His Eminence will lead a procession to the Shrine Church at 10:30 a.m. and offer the Dedication Anniversary Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Assisting His Eminence at the Anniversary Mass will be Cardinal Rivera Carrera; Portland, Oregon Archbishop Alexander Sample; Hartford, Connecticut Archbishop Leonard Blair; La Crosse Bishop William Callahan; Winona-Rochester Bishop John Quinn; Madison, and Wisconsin Bishop Robert Morlino. The Franciscans of the Immaculate, the Minnesota Delegation of the Order of Malta, and many priests, deacons, men and women religious and lay faithful will be there as well.

“We are expecting to welcome thousands of pilgrims throughout these events,” Steve Doll, Pilgrimage Outreach Coordinator for the Shrine, told LifeSiteNews. “Not only do pilgrims come to see the beautiful Shrine and grounds, but also to have an opportunity to visit with and support His Eminence Cardinal Burke and guest speakers.”

Following the Dedication Mass, there will be a reception on the Church Plaza until 3:00 p.m., when Cardinal Burke will bless an area on the Shrine grounds for a future retreat house for pilgrims.
