CHICAGO, June 28 (LifeSiteNews.com) -Cardinal Francis George, Archbishop of Chicago led a prayer vigil for nearly 1000 pro-lifers outside the Humbolt Park Centro abortuary Saturday. After a mass at the nearby St. Sylvester Church, where over 200 had to remain on the steps and outside the Church due to the massive crowd, the group made a procession of prayer to the abortuary where many knelt as the group prayed the Rosary for 45-minutes and then returned in procession to the Church.  Newspapers reported there were about 50 pro-abortion protesters but their numbers were dwarfed by the police presence.  Preaching at mass, Archbishop George told the faithful to bring “an attitude of welcome and love.”

“If you came with anger in your heart toward anyone who would do or justify an abortion, leave it behind… the Lord doesn’t need loud cries or amplification. if we pray well, we can transform the entire witness that surrounds this issue.”  The event was organized by the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, an international Catholic pro-life group.
