NEW YORK, Jan 19 (LSN) – During a Mass marking this week’s 25th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion, John Cardinal O’Connor made an impassioned plea to save mothers and children from the horrors of abortion. “Any woman who is pregnant and in need and cannot afford medical help can come to us from anywhere, she can come to me personally,” the cardinal told the 3,500 worshipers who packed St. Patrick’s Cathedral yesterday.  In his homily Cardinal O’Connor drew attention to the 35 million unborn babies that have been “slaughtered” in the 25 years since the Supreme Court decision. Under the Cardinal’s guidance the Archdiocese of New York has already has helped thousands of poor women avoid abortions.  Women are offered free medical care, free hospital care, prenatal care and the option of keeping the baby or adoption.
