(LifeSiteNews) — In an inspiring social media post shared on Sunday, outspoken pro-life critic of Israel Carrie Prejean Boller celebrated that her husband, retired NFL quarterback Kyle Boller, had been confirmed and received into the Catholic Church.

These sacraments of initiation marked the completion of the family’s faith journey that began when Carrie and their two children entered the Church at Easter 2025.

“Tonight, I had the blessing of watching my husband, Kyle Boller, be confirmed and welcomed into the Catholic Church,” Carrie wrote. “To witness the man I love receive the sacraments and receive Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. I prayed for this day. I’m so thankful he made this decision. Thank you Jesus.”

Kyle Boller, 44, enjoyed a nine-year NFL career after being selected 19th overall in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, where he set multiple passing records.

During his NFL career, Boller suited up primarily for the Ravens, with later stints for the St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders. He retired after the 2011 season and has since transitioned into business, currently serving as senior vice president of business development at Harvest Small Business Finance.

Carrie’s post highlights how the family’s shared conversion has deepened their spiritual bonds.

“Last Easter, I was welcomed home, along with our children. Tonight, my husband was welcomed home,” the former Miss California celebrated. “To see the grace of God moving through our marriage and family in just one year leaves me overwhelmed with gratitude.”

She went on to describe the Catholic Church as home, stating, “The Eucharist is everything. To know that our family is being drawn closer to Christ and rooted more deeply in His Church is a gift beyond words.”

A central figure in Kyle’s confirmation was his sponsor, retired Major League Baseball player Mike Sweeney.

Carrie praised Sweeney’s guidance. “This journey was made even more meaningful because Kyle stood beside his sponsor, Mike Sweeney, a true brother in faith,” she said. “Thank you, Mike, for your mentorship, your example, your prayers, and for coming alongside my husband and our family with such steadiness and love. You have been a true anchor, and we are deeply grateful for the role you have played in this beautiful chapter of our lives.”

Sweeney, a five-time MLB All-Star and member of the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame, played 16 seasons in the majors, mostly with the Royals, before retiring in 2011.

He now serves as a special assistant to the Royals’ general manager and is widely known for his devout Catholic faith. Sweeney and his wife, Shara, have six children and attend daily Mass. He founded the Mike and Shara Sweeney Family Foundation to support Catholic and pro-life ministries and runs Catholic baseball camps, using the sport as a tool for evangelization.

Sweeney has been a pro-life activist for decades, including speaking out against embryonic stem cell research in 2006, raising money for crisis pregnancy centers, and publicly sharing his faith journey. He also serves as a motivational speaker on Catholic topics.

Carrie closed her post with profound gratitude for the Blessed Virgin Mary’s role in their family’s conversion story.

“Our Blessed Mother has led us so gently to her Son,” she reflected. “Tonight my heart is full with praise and gratitude. We are all finally home. Deo gratias.”

Carrie Prejean Boller, a former member of President Donald Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission, became a focal point of controversy in February after she challenged the notion that one has to support a Zionist agenda in the Holy Land or be branded with the label of “antisemite.”

“As a Catholic, I don’t agree that the new modern state of Israel has any biblical prophecy meaning at all,” she accurately affirmed during contentious exchanges with representatives of the Jewish Zionist community.

In her presentation, Boller cited passages of sacred scripture, multiple Catholic scholars, and Jewish leaders to argue that neither opposition to political Zionism nor criticism of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza can be reasonably labeled as “antisemitism.”

Regardless, Boller was ousted from the commission by President Donald Trump, whom she considered to be a decades-long friend as well.

Since that time, she has implored fellow Christians to be consistent in their pro-life convictions in speaking out on the Israeli government’s “complete genocide” against the Palestinian people, the tragedy’s roots as proceeding from the “heretical” Zionist ideology, and how this ongoing crime propelled her conversion to the Catholic faith.”

She has also warned against the widely recognized influence of the Israel lobby on American politics.

Speaking in a March interview with Piers Morgan on the topic of the newly inaugurated U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, she said, “I think that we are an occupied nation. I think that a foreign country (Israel) has occupied our government and we are seeing now that this president of the United States of America is being influenced by a foreign government.”

“And let me tell you right now, MAGA is dead. It is deader than dead and Americans are furious. We do not recognize President Donald J. Trump anymore,” she said.
