NEW JERSEY, Jan 7 (LSN) – Newark Archbishop Theodore McCarrick has agreed to allow notoriously pro-abortion Governor Christine Whitman use the state’s largest Catholic church for an inauguration day service.  Church officials said Monday that the Archbishop has received numerous protests for his decision.  Several pro-life Catholics have even written to the Vatican’s ambassador in Washington to lodge their objections with Rome.  Susan O’Dougherty, of Morristown, plans to protest outside Sacred Heart Cathedral during the Jan. 20 service. O’Dougherty told reporters, “The archdiocese is rolling out the red carpet for her [Whitman], to honor a woman who has appointed herself a leader in the culture of death.”  Archbishop McCarrick defended his actions saying, “It (the permission) was in response to a request from the authorities of our state that permission was given to hold the Interfaith Prayer Service here, [it] does not endorse any policies of the present administration or support its position on any issue.”
