OTTAWA, May 17 (LifeSiteNews.com) – LifeSite has learned that the leadership of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of Canada has aligned the group with the Women’s Inter Church Council (WICC) in supporting the radical feminist March of Women 2000. A May 10 release on the CWL website confirms that “the League would participate (in the March of Women) under the auspices of the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada.” WICC shows itself to be an anti-Catholic organization, supporting the ousting of the Vatican from the UN as a permanent observer.

The Spring 2000 WICC newsletter contains an article by dissident ‘Catholic’ Joanna Manning (author of Is the Pope Catholic?), which encourages support for the Catholics For a Free Choice campaign which, according to WICC, “hopes to persuade the Secretary General of the UN to conduct a review of the Holy See’s status as a voting member”. “Anyone who would like more information or would like to sign the coalition’s petition is welcome to call Joanna at (416)  599-1244,” says the newsletter.  Only last week the US Catholic Bishops denounced the pro-abortion group “Catholics for a Free Choice” saying they are guilty of “anti-Catholic bigotry.” The action came precisely because of the move to oust the Holy See from the UN.
