EDINBURGH, October 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Scottish Bishop Keith O’Brien, created a media frenzy a few days ago after being publicly selected by Pope John Paul II to be made a Cardinal. He used the occasion to broadcast his unorthodox views on birth control and homosexuality. TORONTO, October 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Focus on the Family Canada has pointed out that the widely reported survey showing a majority of Canadians opposed to spanking was biased.  The survey which was commissioned by Toronto Public Health and carried out by Decima research asked just over 2000 Canadians if Section 43 of the criminal code which permits spanking should be repealed.  However, rather than asking the question straight, all those surveyed were read the following loaded statement before being questioned:  “Canada’s Criminal Code no longer allows physical punishment of adults, but Section 43 of the Code allows physical punishment […]

Pro-abortion Group Collecting $162 Million U.S. Funding Under Guise of Anti AIDS/HIV

WASHINGTON, October 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Population Research Institute (PRI) has released a report outing a pro-abortion group which is contravening the U.S. (Mexico City) policy barring abortion-promoting international groups from receiving U.S. government funding.  In April of 2002, USAID announced that it was awarding nearly $162 million to Family Health International (FHI) and its partners over the next five years. This award followed a 1997 five-year grant to FHI for $148 million. Ostensibly, the grants have been provided to help fight the global AIDS pandemic. USAID HIV/AIDS funds are not subject to the Mexico City policy.  However, PRI […]
