UN VOICES CONCERN ABOUT DUTCH EUTHANASIA LAW

NEW YORK, July 30, 2001 (LSN.ca) – The United Nations Human Rights Committee has expressed concern over the Dutch law allowing legal euthanasia which is to come into effect in January. On Friday, the Committee issued final recommendations on a report submitted by the Netherlands. CANADIAN FAMILIES SEEKING REFUGEE STATUS IN US OVER RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION

AYLMER, ON, July 30, 2001 (LSN.ca) – CTV News has reported that the 100+ congregants of the Church of God in Aylmer, Ontario who fled Canada fearing retribution from child welfare officials, may seek refugee status in the United States claiming religious persecution. The families fled after the children of one of the church families were seized by Children’s Aid Society officials. RUSSIA APPROVES 5 YEAR BAN ON CLONING HUMANS

MOSCOW, July 30, 2001 (LSN.ca) – On Friday the Russian government passed a temporary ban on human cloning to last for five years. WINNIPEG, July 27, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Two women who opted to pay for abortions at a private clinic rather than have their children aborted for free at a hospital are now suing the province for only paying for abortions in hospitals.
