CALIFORNIA SENATE COMMITTEE REJECTS PARENTAL-CONSENT BILL

CALIFORNIA, Apr 15 (LSN) – On Tuesday, a California state Senate Judiciary Committee shot down a proposed constitutional amendment to require written consent from a parent or legal guardian before a minor could procure an abortion. Introduced by state Senator Tim Leslie, R-Tahoe City, the amendment would have allowed a minor to file a petition with a juvenile court judge to win permission for an abortion, if the minor’s parent or legal guardian refused consent or if the minor decided not to seek the consent of her parents or legal guardian.  In spite of this and other loopholes, anti-life forces […]

HOMOSEXUALS DEMAND COMPENSATION FOR PAST “DISCRIMINATION”

OTTAWA, Apr 15 (LSN) – A team of Laurentian Univerity researchers delivered a 220-page report to the Canadian government yesterday, demanding an apology and compensation for homosexuals who they allege were targeted in national security campaigns in the 1950s and ‘60s. The four researchers, all active homosexuals, complained that the government banned active homosexuals from the civil service and the military.  Beside the fact that homosexual acts remained a crime in Canada until 1969, the presence of homosexuals in the military and diplomatic corps posed a real threat to the country’s Cold War security. The RCMP,  for example, were concerned […]

U.S. POLITICIAN TESTIFIES ON BEHALF OF PRO-LIFERS

CHICAGO, Apr 14 (LSN) – On Thursday, US Congressman Henry Hyde, R-Ill., testified as a character witness for Pro-Life Action League president Joseph Scheidler. Hyde criticized the lawyers for the National Organization of Women (NOW), for their negative portrayal of the peaceful pro-life activist. Hyde testified that he had known Scheidler as an honest man for 25 years. The NOW is attempting to shut down pro-life activity, by engaging pro-life leaders in costly lawsuits. In this case, they are arguing that Mr Scheidler’s remarkably successful campaigns to save vulnerable women and children from the abortion industry amounts to “racketeering.”
