WASHINGTON, D.C., June 20, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday revived their attempts to secure a ban on partial-birth abortion.  The bill’s sponsor, Rep. BERLIN, June 20, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Germany’s highest court has ruled that a doctor who failed to diagnose a baby’s disability during prenatal ultrasounds must pay compensation to the parents.  The child, now five and named Sebastian, was born with no hands or lower arms and with heavily deformed legs. ROME, June 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) – The Italian lower Chamber of Deputies passed legislation on artificial procreation today which has some of the world's most life-respecting characteristics. However, the bill, which passed 268-144, is expected to face tough opposition in the Senate. The legislation bans experimentation on human embryos and also the freezing of embryos as well as cloning. It also respects the rights of children conceived unnaturally via artificial procreation to at least have a father and a mother. VANCOUVER, June 19, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Thirteen Anglican bishops from British Columbia to Newfoundland expressed “regret” on Monday over the Diocese of New Westminster’s decision last weekend to provide official blessings to same-sex unions.
